Operation of pressure regulating valve
Pressure regulating valves can reduce gas or hydraulic pressure from cylinders, compressors and other sources to lower values required by equipment such as analyzers. When the inlet pressure and the pressure in the control range are very close to the pressure requirements of the liquid treatment system, the pressure regulating valve has high resolution and control ability. Resolution refers to the number of handle turns required to adjust the regulator from the lowest outlet pressure setting to the highest outlet pressure equipment. Control capacity refers to the ability of a pressure regulator to maintain a given outlet pressure set point.
Decompression regulating valve
The decompression regulator balances the force generated by the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure through the adjustable spring force, thus controlling the outlet pressure. The spring can be adjusted by turning the stem/handle to set the desired outlet pressure.
As the inlet pressure decreases, the force balance will change. To achieve equilibrium, the outlet pressure will increase. This supply effect (SPE) is an effect of the design and type of pressure regulating valve. If the inlet pressure of the pressure regulating valve often fluctuates, but you do not want the outlet pressure to change, you can use a two-stage pressure regulating valve.
Back pressure regulating valve
The back pressure regulator controls the inlet pressure by balancing the inlet pressure with a spring force. The desired inlet pressure can be set by adjusting the spring force by turning the valve/handle. When the force generated by the inlet pressure rises to exceed the spring force, the pressure regulating valve opens until the balance between the spring force and the inlet pressure is re-reached.
